Google will bring Google Assistant's digital assistant to feature phone. To show its seriousness, Google announced that Google Assistant is present on JioPhone.
The Reliance feature phone available only in India is supported by a custom operating system called KaiOS, based on Firefox OS, and has its own voice assistant HelloJio.
In order to place his assistant within JioPhone, Google must customize it to fit the 2.4 inch QVGA screen of the phone.
This makes the Google Assistant interface different from what we see on smartphones today. Unfortunately, some of the more sophisticated features have not yet been implemented.
However, the core functionality of Google Assistant is available to those using JioPhone.
Although this looks like a trial, it is possible Google will bring his digital assistant to more feature phones in the future.
It is not known for sure whether Google will expand the initiative to a country other than India, where hundreds of millions of people are still using feature phones.
