Thanks to the Ancient Invention, Sandals (Slippers) are Predicted to Be There 10,000 Years Ago

Sandals are an open footwear needed by humans to date. Sandals initially serves as a protector of the foot so as not exposed to sharp objects and keep the feet clean.

But with the development of modern times, sandals not only serves as regular footwear but also as a complementary style (fashion) that can be tailored to the wearer's costume.


The existence of sandals itself is estimated to have existed thousands of years ago. But based on the discovery that existed in Fort Rock Cave in Oregon, USA, sandals had existed about 10,000 years ago.

The word sandal itself comes from the Greek language. They know two types of sandals: baxeae made of wilow leaves, twigs, or fibers. This type of sandals are usually used by comic actors and philosophers in the era.

Then the second type, cothurnus is a boot slipper used by horsemen, hunters, and high-ranking people in his residence. Usually there is a kind of cork to feel soft when worn.

The Greek sandals also feature many of the ropes that they tighten in the legs. The top of the sandals is usually made of colored leather. The palm is made of cowhide, of better quality and consists of several layers.

Meanwhile, the ancient Egyptians wore sandals made of palm leaves and papyrus. The sandals they wear are usually seen on Egyptian sculptures and reliefs, according to sources.


Until now sandals can be found with various types ranging from caligae, clogs, flip-flops, geta, hiking, and other models accompanied by high heels (rights) for women.
